Soft Light on South Holston Lake

Created during Plein Air Abingdon 2025, this piece is the result of total immersion in the landscape. I camped lakeside in my van for several days, waking up with the water to study how the light shifted from dawn to dusk. This specific painting captures a quiet, luminous moment where the sun sat low behind the tree line. By keeping the foreground trees in deep shadow, I was able to emphasize the soft, radiating glow of the light as it spilled across the surface of South Holston Lake
